Title: Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza City Shuts Down Due to Power Outages and Israeli Shelling
Gaza City, KP INSIDER – Al-Quds Hospital, a vital healthcare facility in Gaza City, has been declared non-operational by the Palestinian Red Crescent due to power outages and fuel shortages caused by ongoing clashes between Israeli troops and Hamas fighters. The situation places the lives of over 500 patients, as well as 14,000 displaced individuals seeking shelter, at severe risk.
Israeli tanks and military vehicles have surrounded the hospital and relentlessly shelled the building, exacerbating an already dire situation. The hospital, which was providing refuge for thousands displaced by the conflict, has been forced to shut down due to the depletion of fuel and subsequent power outages. Medical workers are struggling to provide adequate care to patients and the wounded.
The plight extends to Gaza’s main hospital, Al-Shifa, where a daunting reality mirrors that of Al-Quds. The overwhelming number of seriously ill and wounded patients, along with the displaced, find themselves trapped inside the hospital premises and encircled by Israeli tanks and troops. Communication with the World Health Organization (WHO) has been lost due to the prevailing chaos.
Al-Shifa Hospital has been plunged into darkness as a result of the fuel shortage, leading to the tragic deaths of five patients, including a premature baby in an incubator. The WHO has voiced grave concerns about the wellbeing and safety of healthcare workers, patients (including those relying on life support), and the remaining displaced individuals sheltering inside the hospital.
The ongoing violent clashes between Israeli troops and Hamas fighters have gravely disrupted the already fragile healthcare system in Gaza. Hospitals are now crippled, unable to provide essential medical services to those desperately in need.
The international community is urged to intervene and prioritize the immediate provision of adequate fuel and medical supplies to Gaza’s healthcare facilities. The lives of countless innocent civilians, including vulnerable patients and displaced individuals, depend on swift action to alleviate the suffering caused by the ongoing conflict.
The humanitarian crisis unfolding within the healthcare system in Gaza demands urgent attention and support to ensure the provision of crucial medical services and alleviate the suffering of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
