SpaceX Reschedules Falcon 9 Starlink Mission Launch for August 23
Cape Canaveral, FL – SpaceX has announced that the liftoff for its Falcon 9 Starlink mission has been rescheduled for Wednesday, August 23. Originally planned for Tuesday, the launch was pushed back 24 hours, and the new launch window will be from 8:22 p.m. EDT on Wednesday until 12:52 a.m. EDT on Thursday.
Weather conditions for the launch are expected to be favorable, with a 75% chance of “go” conditions. If the launch goes according to schedule, it will be the 43rd launch on the Space Coast so far this year.
The primary payload for this mission will be the next batch of Starlink internet-beaming satellites. Once lifted off, the Falcon 9 rocket will follow a southeasterly trajectory between Florida and the Bahamas. Notably, there will be no local sonic booms during this particular mission.
Approximately eight minutes after liftoff, the first-stage booster will attempt a drone ship landing. This maneuver showcases SpaceX’s commitment to reusability and reducing the cost of space missions.
Looking ahead, the next SpaceX launch from Florida is set for Friday, August 25. This launch will be the NASA’s SpaceX Crew-7 mission to the International Space Station. The Crew-7 mission is targeted for liftoff at 3:49 a.m. EDT, and it will carry a team of astronauts from various space agencies, including NASA, the European Space Agency, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, and Roscosmos.
An updated weather report for the Crew-7 mission is expected later this week. For the latest updates on launches, readers are encouraged to visit floridatoday.com/launchschedule.
