The Jacksonville Jaguars have been busy making roster moves as they gear up for the upcoming NFL season. In their latest acquisitions, the team has signed DL Angelo Blackson and OL Blake Hance to the Active Roster. Additionally, they have added DL Esezi Otomewo, DL Tommy Togiai, TE Josh Pederson, and S Ayo Oyelola to the Practice Squad.
Angelo Blackson, a fourth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, brings a wealth of experience to the Jaguars. Having played in 117 games and spending time with the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, and Chicago Bears, Blackson is no stranger to the league. Throughout his career, he has recorded an impressive 98 tackles, 27 quarterback hits, 15 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, eight passes defensed, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Blackson’s versatility and skill set will undoubtedly be an asset to the Jaguars’ defensive line.
Esezi Otomewo, a fifth-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2022, is another promising addition to the Jaguars’ roster. Although he only played in five games during his rookie season, Otomewo showed potential, recording three tackles and one tackle for loss. Prior to his NFL career, Otomewo played college football at the University of Minnesota, where he showcased his abilities with 81 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks in 46 games.
Inevitably, roster moves also mean some players must make way for the new additions. OL Cooper Hodges and DT DaVon Hamilton have been placed on Reserve/Injured, opening up spots for the incoming players.
As the Jaguars continue to build their roster in preparation for the upcoming season, these moves highlight the team’s commitment to strengthening their lines and bringing in players with proven track records. With the addition of Blackson, Hance, Otomewo, Togiai, Pederson, and Oyelola, the Jaguars are setting themselves up for success and have given fans something to look forward to in the upcoming season.
